Usually, this means that your vehicle is at least 20 to 25 years in age, since the date of manufacture. Depends on who you talk to, really. Well, if your computer is in the 3 to 7 year age group, from original purchase date, then you have a computer CLASSIC. And like the cars or automobiles of that ilk, your CLASSIC computer needs to be carefully attended to. Of course, if youre a power computer person, you already know this. But, you might be interested to know, that if you are NOT one of those power users, you are among the nearly 90% of the population that has little to no technical understandings. Not to Worry! Our Extended Service agreements are designed to support and maintain your CLASSIC computer in prime operating condition, no matter where you are driving your machine. So, with that as a prelude, lets get to some examples of what youre CLASSIC really needs, to maintain its sleek, and stylish running mode. A. The most likely cause of your CLASSIC running slow is that the disk drive has a load of trash on it. This comes from simply going online, using applications (like Office suites) and from those cookie monsters that are all part of being online, and not having to remember every single password you use. And, when this trash goes into the compacter (called Compact Old Files, as a matter of fact), the result is that the drive slows down a bunch. The solution? Clean that disk right out. How? Glad you asked, friend, glad you asked. We can arrange for that service, as part of our CLASSIC Computer Tune up Special, which youll find in the ordering table at the end of this document. You also might get someone you know to help you, or you can go here, and the instructions are also included. o http://www.kauaikeepsakes.com/askyourcomputerguy/ B. The 2nd most likely cause of your CLASSIC running more like a tank, than a gazelle, is that the files are totally fragmented. Whats that look like? Well, you may know someone (not you, of course) that has an office desk where the layers of files and papers would be the envy of any capable archeologist. Well, the computer has the same issues, and this comes from layering documents, pictures, and music/video files, one stack at a time, until your drive is one extended collection of oddly arranged files. This causes, mostly on the PC side, the disk to work extra hard, finding all the fragments of the file, before you get to see, or hear that item. Again, this can be done as part of our Tune up Service, or you can figure this one out yourself. See A above, for some information on how this can happen. So, now that the preliminaries (much like checking the oil in your own car) are dispensed with, lets get down to the real CLASSIC services your machine deserves. There are FOUR basic services that your CLASSIC computer will need: 1. Back Up of your Files.this is identical to the notion of driving your CLASSIC car or computer, WITHOUT a spare in the trunk, so to speak. Now, if youve ever opened up your boot(heh..heh..trunk) and seen either a missing spare, or worse, one thats soft, then you know that sinking feeling. Same thing happens with your backup of your date. WARNINGWARNINGthis will ONLY back up your data files, NOT the actual applications, which in almost every instance, will need to be REINSTALLED to get back to where you were so happily computer cruising. We strongly recommend that your backup be off site , meaning that the backup is NOT a local external drive(not a bad idea, usually, but meaningless is the key reason a backup is neededPOWER FAILUREShits your office, and takes out both drives). So, we recommend the MOZY backup service, which is a suitesweetahemdeal for around 5.00 bucks a month. I can assure you that this is a deal and a half, since without a restore backup file, even I would be hard pressed to bring your computer back to its usually peppy performance. If you only do one thing in this sequence, for your CLASSIC computer, this is the one you want to do. See the panel at end for more on this option. 2. O.K. got the spare tire in place? No. not the one around my middle, the one for your CLASSIC computer. Now, lets see..ah..yes.Does your computer warranty expire soon? You dont know? GULP Well, then, we strongly recommend that you extend your warranty. Usually youll invest around 100.00 to do this, for another 12 months, and we know a good company(called, believe it or not, Computer Warranty Services).that will extend your service warranty, EVEN is its already expired. So, you can see more about this at this location, if you wish. http://www.kauaikeepsakes.com/askyourcomputerguy/ 3. Now, one more thing. Planned, twice year maintenance. Like a service contract with your computer wizard. This will go a long, long way to making your CLASSIC work best. And, you wont even need to have someone come to your door. We can stop by through a High Speed Internet connection, with your permission, of course, and then you can watch, in amazement, and also, as an assistant, as our team works its magic, tuning up your CLASSIC computer, and restoring it to its previously fine operation. 4. We have that option in our panel, at the end of this page, through our site. http://www.kauaikeepsakes.com/askyourcomputerguy/ Oknow, heres our Panel of fine and distinguished services: Back Up Service @ 4.95/ monthTune Up Service Twice Yearly 48.00 eachHigh Speed Tech Visit 68.00 eachSend an Email 4 DetailsSend an Email 4 DetailsSend an Email 4 Details We hope that youll become one of our Extended Service Clients SOON, so that Youre CLASSIC computer can be the vehicle that you deserve.
